Citizens Bank Park
Architectural Precast Elements:
• Over 475,000 bricks embedded in the architectural precast panels
When the Philadelphia Phillies began constructing their new baseball stadium, they wanted to ensure it reflected all the latest technology and advances in design. But they also wanted it to fit into the older neighborhood, which featured many brick buildings.
To evoke the architectural history of the neighborhoods and older baseball parks of Philadelphia, the designers used precast concrete architectural panels embedded with thin bricks.
According to the Phillies, the exterior was composed primarily of multiple shades of red brick, precast concrete, and granite complemented by the green roofs with a copper patina finish. This combination evoked the essence of Philadelphia's rich tradition of sports architecture with an unmistakably 21st century style.
Citizens Bank Park features 97,000 square feet of architectural precast panels, incorporating over 475,000 bricks embedded in the panels.
